Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in the part of Montreal known as"the West Island. Many people who don't know about the place mistakenly think that they are on the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact it is the West Island includes everything westward of the city of Lachine. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often cited, however her short time in the city was not. Brugel grew on Courtice just outside Oshawa located in Ontario. In her early years she hoped to become professional performer, however an unexpected growth spurt made it impossible. In an article from The Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6 feet one inch. The moment I outgrew my male counterpart, I stopped. Many dancers make the transition into acting. In the case of Bruce, it was her drama teacher who encouraged her in that direction. She was a teacher at the time who advised her to take on a part in the school's annual production. She was able to audition and be cast in the role of Anne of Green Gables. The show was granted the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program which she completed from the program in 2000, earning a degree of Bachelor's in Fine Arts. Brugel's career spans over twenty years, and she's been in over 60 productions including big screen productions and smaller ones. Her most notable role was the one of Rita (pictured beneath) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel played the role of the character of Rita on The Handmaid's tale the series produced over the course of ten years.
