Mary Eileen McDonnell (born April 28, 1952) is a famous American stage actress and film actress. She has received the Academy Award nod for the part she was as Donnie Genesis Rodriguez in Dances with Wolves, as Stands With A Fist. In addition to this role McDonnell is also well-known for her portrayal of Laura Roslin (President of Battlestar Galactica) as the president's spouse in Independence Day as well as her main role in the film as Donnie Darko's mother.
